Massachusetts Intensive Outpatient Services

Are you ready to seek support for your mental health challenges? Contact us today at 877-536-5307 for immediate attention. We have three different programs for Intensive Outpatient Services (IOS) that run throughout the week for 9-15 hours, depending on your needs.

Intensive Outpatient Services (IOS) is a step down from inpatient treatment, offering a high level of care but without the requirement to stay at the facility full time. With this type of program, you can go about your usual daily routines, such as working, going to school, or spending time with your family. While intensive outpatient care is more flexible, we do recommend balancing your time in treatment with your daily responsibilities, which is why we also offer an Evening IOS program for Mental Health to accommodate those with inflexible daily schedules. The goal is to put your recovery first without having to pause your daily life so that you can heal and return to everyday living.

Here at East Point Behavioral Health in Massachusetts, our IOS follows an inpatient program or psychiatric day program. While these services are still intensive and treat moderate to severe mental health problems, fewer hours are involved. This allows you to receive a high level of specialized care as you begin your transition to everyday life. You will also learn coping skills to further support the adjustments you will be making.

IOS incorporates both individual therapy and group therapy, in which you can expect to spend about 9-15 hours a week in these sessions. We recognize that everyone heals at their own pace, and we will never push you to complete something sooner than you need to. We give each client plenty of time to work through their internal struggles, develop healthy coping skills, and learn how to manage their symptoms at home.

Why Choose Our Intensive Outpatient Services in Massachusetts

East Point Behavioral Health is one of the most trusted providers of IOS within Massachusetts. We have a simple but profound focus: Helping you to become a stronger, healthier individual with the tools and resources to succeed in recovery.

Living with mental health concerns can be physically and emotionally exhausting, but you do not have to continue this way. Support is available, and once you receive it, you can take back your life and overcome anxiety, depression, or any other mental health or substance use disorder you are experiencing.

We recommend our Intensive Outpatient Services to individuals who are:

  • Experiencing depression, anxiety, or other mood disorders.
  • Coping with trauma or post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • Dealing with relationship or family difficulties.
  • Managing substance use disorders alongside mental health challenges.
  • Needing ongoing care after being discharged from a residential or inpatient program.
  • Looking for support while maintaining work, school, or family responsibilities.

IOS is ideal for those who need more support than weekly therapy sessions but do not require 24-hour monitoring. If you or a loved one is feeling overwhelmed by mental health symptoms, but still able to live independently, IOS may be the right solution.

What to Expect at East Point Behavioral Health

One of the most important parts of treating individuals at our facility is that their individual needs are met. Not only is everyone unique, but also life experiences affect them differently. Two people can go through the same experience yet come out differently. For example, two children can grow up in the same abusive household, yet only one might struggle with depression and substance use.

Experiencing mental health symptoms does not make a person “weak.” Mental health disorders are complex conditions that involve inherited traits, environmental exposures, brain chemistry, family history, stressful life events, and adverse childhood experiences. This is why each person deserves a personalized approach to treatment.

When you start treatment at East Point Behavioral Health, you will be given a thorough evaluation to assess your symptoms, how they are impacting your life, and what your family and personal history look like. It’s important for our therapists and mental health professionals to understand your situation and the challenges you face. We will then create a personalized treatment plan that addresses your unique needs and provides you with a roadmap toward recovery.

Our IOS programs include the following:

  • IOS 5 Intensive Outpatient Service: Monday-Friday, 9-12:30pm, 15 hours per week for 4-6 weeks
  • IOS 3 Intensive Outpatient Service: Monday-Friday, 9-12:30pm, 9 hours per week for 6-8 weeks
  • IOS 3 Evening Intensive Outpatient Service: Tuesday-Thursday, 5:30-8:30pm, 9 hours per week for 6-8 weeks

The Goals of IOS

The main goal of any mental health treatment program is to help those with mental health challenges get better. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, or another condition, it’s easy to feel hopeless or like nothing is ever going to get better. But with the right support, you can learn to improve your mental health, manage your symptoms, and lead a happy and productive life.

One way to accomplish this is by identifying specific targets. For example, past trauma, such as childhood abuse or neglect, can contribute to the development of mental health disorders. Once these specific targets are identified, we can help clients develop healthy and effective coping skills. This way, when reminders of past trauma resurface, individuals know how to deal with them so that they do not cause symptoms. It is a work in progress, and certainly not something that happens overnight, but it can be done over time.

During your time in treatment, you will continue to meet with your assigned psychiatric provider who will monitor your progress and analyze how well you are responding to treatment. Based on the findings, they can make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan and medication for more effective results.

Topics Discussed in Outpatient Therapy

When you join our Intensive Outpatient Services, we will make every effort to ensure your treatment plan meets your unique requirements. After a comprehensive evaluation, our psychiatric providers will develop a roadmap for treatment, which may include topics such as:

Anxiety and Depression
Grief and Loss
Anger Management
Communication Skills
Relationships
Guilt and Shame
Medication Management and Education
Healthy Boundaries
Stress Management

Our integrated treatment program also makes use of Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Services (MH-IOS). This gives clients the opportunity to share their insights and worries, along with listening to the perspectives of others. These experiences are useful in practicing productive, healthy interpersonal communication skills, as well as gain a greater understanding of their disorders, their response to triggers, and how to change these responses for the better.
